15. Animal Party!
Splash Pad Field
Snakes and Lizards may make you shudder and Rats may make you cringe, but there is more to these animals then HOLLYWOOD lets you see.  Walking through a zoo can be interesting, but how many times have you wanted to reach out and touch the animals??  At our Animal Party, you'll have the chance to do just that!

16. Wet N’ Scaly
Splash Pad Field
An introduction to the diversity of reptiles in Ontario, this live animal show will offer you an up close glimpse of some of our neighboring snakes and turtles.  Wye Marsh staff will point out identification features and behavioral adaptations, as well as ways in which you can help protect these threatened species.

17. Nature at Night

Experience nature as few people do…at night! Grab a flashlight and join the Wye Marsh as they explore some of the night’s most fascinating creatures and how they have adapted to a nocturnal existence.  Experience for yourself how bats locate their food, how raccoons see at night, and how fireflies land a date!

18.  Orienteering

For both the competitive and the fun-natured person alike, orienteering is not only a rewarding and challenging sport, but is also a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature!  After learning the basic skills of compass and map reading, you will be let loose on an orienteering course where you will be looking for ‘controls’ posted within the forest.  Each control is a partial answer to a riddle, one that you and your family can work together (or compete) to crack!

19. Animal Tracks, Scats & Signs
Social Kiosk
Join the Wye Marsh for an introductory slide show to the many animals that live amoung us, but manage to stay hidden from view.  Learn what to look for, how to identify what you’ve found, and what it can tell us about our animal friends.  Following the presentation, we will create plaster animal tracks for you to keep as a souvenir, and then head outside to put your tracking skills to the test!

20. Canoe/Kayak the Bay* (Max 25)                    
North Beach
Take a step into the past and explore the natural and cultural history of Georgian Bay.  Learn about the First Nations people and the early European settles, how their interactions helped to shape the Georgian Bay we know of today.  The canoe tour is lead by an Ontario Recreational Canoeing Association (ORCA) certified Wye Marsh naturalist, and is recommended for adults only.

21. Geocaching Adventure

After an introductory lesson on using Global Positioning System (GPS) units, you will be asked to correctly answer an animal trivia question that will lead you to a geocache containing animal tokens.  The team that correctly answers the most questions will return with the most animal tokens and therefore be awarded official bragging rights!

22. Marsh Monsters

With dip nets in hand, participants of all ages will enjoy uncovering the Marsh Monsters that reside in small pond on Royal Island.  Find larva, leaches, striders, and snails and learn how to identify the creatures with the help of a Wye Marsh Naturalist. Discover how these creatures are adapted to an aquatic-life, and what they can tell us about environmental quality.

23. Water Colour Vistas

Create a lasting view of Georgian Bay vistas by painting your scene using water colours. This program will help you open your eyes and re-discover the natural beauty of Georgian Bay, as well as the fun of painting! This water colour course is geared towards beginners, though those with experience painting will have fun too! All supplies are provided - all you need is imagination!

Like we could actually jam more stuff into this Delawana tradition.  If you’ve never been to one of our pool/beach parties before then check this one out early in the week.  We guarantee you’ll be coming back everyday!  Music, dancing, bingo, prizes and more!

Start off with an interactive presentation and learn such things as “why do stars shine”.  You’ll also learn about the many different objects that populate our universe (meteors, comets, planets, the milky way, etc.).  A little later, come on back for the fabulous Star Party!  Using telescopes and binoculars, you’ll head outside to examine the skies above. 
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

36.  Beausoleil Island Shuttle * (Max 12)
Main Docks
Pontoon Boat Taxi to Beausoleil Island, part of Georgian Bay Islands National Park.  Here you can enjoy your afternoon in nature while embarking on a self-guided hike and/or bike tour of the Island.  Trail maps can be picked up from the Front Desk.  Be sure to bring a packed lunch, as there are no food options on the Island.

37. Miss Midland sunset cruise

Come aboard the famous Miss Midland for this exclusive cruise for Delawana guests only!  This hour and ½ journey takes you through the 30,000 islands pointing out important points along the way.  This boat is so big you couldn’t even miss it if you wanted to!  Not to worry, we’ll have you back for the show, which begins at 9:00pm tonight.

39. Picnic on Beausoliel Island * (Max 50)

It’s a Delawana tradition!  Guests begin their picnic excursion boarding our Pontoon Boats to Beausoleil Island.  A packed program features a BBQ lunch, land sports, games and a lot more.  Enjoy the many trails, sandy beaches, and natural beauty of this incredible setting.  Don’t forget your bathing suits and SANDALS!  Additional costs:  Children 13 & over and Adults $12.00 (charged to your room).

Waterfront Activities

PONTOON BOAT CRUISES

Take a relaxing, 30-45 minute, narrated boat cruise that explores the beautiful waterways surrounding the Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort.  Cruises depart every hour.

DELAWANA SAILING SCHOOL
North Beach (Sign up at the Social Kiosk)
Sign up for our daily Delawana Sailing School.  Participants will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently sail safely.  Become a “Certified Skipper at the Del!”  School offered for adults (10am-12pm) and youths aged 7-16 (1-3pm).  Additional cost $35.00/day + taxes & service charge.  Please note, the Sailing School is offered with 3 or more day packages.  Instructors are available 6 days a week for private one-on-one instruction at an hourly rate of $35.00.  Sail boat rentals also available…
Two Hours: $40.00 + taxes
Four Hours: $65.00 + taxes
$1000.00 deposit required.

FISHING BOAT RENTALS

Looking for a relaxing way to explore Georgian Bay?  Why not take one of our 14-foot
(9.9 HP or 15 HP) fishing boats out for a spin.  Whether you’re looking to do some sunset/sunrise
fishing or just some exploring as a family, this is the way to go.  Fishing boats are available for
2 hour or 4 hour rentals.
Two Hours: $40.00 + taxes
Four Hours: $65.00 + taxes
$1000.00 deposit required.

THE DELAWANA SKI SCHOOL

You can ski all summer long with our very own ski instructors.  Banana Boat rides, ski lessons and a whole lot more.  Head down to the docks to see these wacky instructors and to setup your appointment.  Additional charges apply.

WAVERUNNER SAFARIS TOURS
Sign-up at Front Desk
Sign-up for the ride of your life!  Join one of the Delawana’s own waterfront staff for a guided tour of the area Waverunner style!  With 5 tours going out daily and up to 2 riders per Waverunner, the whole family can enjoy this!  Please note that drivers only are required to be at least 18 years of age.  The entire trip will last approximately 1 hour and includes a 30 minute safety session prior to departure for all drivers and passengers.  For more information, head down to the docks and speak with any of our waterfront staff.
$125.00/Waverunner + taxes.
$1000.00 deposit required.

Canoes, kayaks, peddle boats & waterbikes are available at the North Beach from 9:00am to 9:00pm* (Sundays until 7pm).  Please be sure to have all of the correct water safety equipment in the vessel with you as the OPP frequently patrol the area.  See one of our friendly Guest Services staff at the North Beach sign-out desk for assistance.  No additional charge!
