DELAWANA INN BLOG
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 You’ll Wanna do the Delawana! For those families, like ours, travelling with tweens and teens, here are the magic words: TWO KIDS UNDER 15 FREE ALL SUMMER! That’s right, where most vacation destinations start charging full adult prices once the kids are 12 or over, the Delawana gives you two kids UNDER 15 free (and some weeks, it’s two kids under SEVENTEEN!) And the Delawana offers a Kids’ Program that teens WANT to go to!
The meals are excellent (Everyone gets breakfast and dinner, and kids 12 and under get lunch as well). The accommodations are old, but clean and maintained well, and kids LOVE the beach area, complete with a water trampoline, iceberg, and other water inflatables. All non-motorized watercraft (canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, etc.) are free to use, as are the pitch and putt golf course, mini-putt, etc. Bikes can be signed out for free, and a sunset cruise on the Miss Midland tour boat is also free to all. Both kids and adults can enjoy free pontoon boat rides that travel a variety of routes through the 30 000 Georgian Bay islands and leave every hour through the day.
We’ve found that we can enjoy a week’s holiday at the Delawana for about half the cost of any other all-inclusive resort in Ontario, and with our two grandkids involved in the Kids’ Program throughout the day, it’s a real holiday for my wife and me, too! If you’re into “luxurious”, then the Delawana isn’t for you (although those who frequent the Spa there[extra cost] would argue the point), but if you can make do with “just comfortable” accommodations, then by all means consider the Delawana for a great family vacation!

Friday, September 03, 2010 Save and savour fall colours at the Delawana
Honey Harbour, Ontario - Take full advantage of the changing seasons as fall approaches with discounts and value at one of Ontario’s premier all-inclusive resorts.
If you are fabulous, 55 and older, venture to Muskoka and take in some of the most beautiful sunsets in the province, as the orange ball sinks into the Georgian Bay waters. Knock a few golf balls around, stroll majestic grounds or feel young again with the grandchildren. These and more await visitors to the Delawana this fall.
As one of the resort’s guests, you will enjoy pontoon boat cruises; some of the best sport fishing in the province; card and board games; outdoor shuffleboard; tennis and racquetball, to name a few. Hike or bike Georgian Bay National Park; hit the bay in a kayak or canoe.
Give your adult children a break and enjoy your grandchildren, who will be grinning from ear to ear, revelling in the Muskoka outdoor experience.
If that’s not enticing enough, the prices are as palatable as three meals a day, included with every package. With the 10% discount off the regular room rate, the young at heart can opt for bed and breakfast packages from $144 per couple; two-night packages for $234 per person; and two kids, 6 and under stay free.
As the leaves begin to turn and fall to the ground, usher in a new season of enchantment at this famous family resort that has been making memories and creating family traditions for more than 100 years.
During the cool evenings remember to glance skyward to catch a glimpse of the northern lights, or aurora borealis. They appear frequently the farther north you go and the best times of year to view them are fall and winter.
The Delawana will also help you celebrate that special family event - birthday, anniversary or even family reunion. Their experts can help plan your family event from start to finish. Leave the details to them, relax and enjoy the fall with your family.
We may be saying farewell to another glorious summer, but the fall provides for another picture-perfect opportunity to explore the outdoors and a typcial Muskoka getaway.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Summer fun doesn’t have to end
Honey Harbour: The summer of 2010 is proving to be one of the best on record and there’s still plenty of time to enjoy it at one of Ontario’s most popular family resorts.
Don’t want summer to end? The Delawana Inn Spa and Conference Resort is a mere 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area and visitors are encouraged to make the short trek to Muskoka and extend their summer vacation just a little bit longer.
The Delawana has a long and rich history of serving guests and it boasts many unique characteristics, unrivalled by any other nearby family resort. The Delawana is the only resort in Muskoka on marvellous and scenic Georgian Bay, which is legendary for its sport fishing. The Delawana is almost completely surrounded by water, making it a perfect spot and launch point for anglers of all ages. The Delawana has the added attraction of beautiful Beausoleil Island National Park as part of its facility.
If that’s not enough to make you wish that summer will never end, the Delawana is extending its all-inclusive packages to include three children 17 and under staying free with their families from August 29 through September 6. That, and given the fact there’s never any rain at the Del - just “liquid sunshine” - make it a value-packed adventure to be sure.
The warm, casual family atmosphere has been helping Ontario families make memories for more than 100 years. The self-contained resort, with 25 acres of park-like setting, has many features that keep families coming back for more, year after year. The long lineup of activities at the Delawana include supervised kids camp, evening entertainment, pontoon boat cruises, beach volleyball, tennis and racquetball, mini-golf, a 25-foot climbing wall, water trampoline and floating climbing iceberg to name just a few. Whether you’re in for a game of monster outdoor chess or just relaxing by a fire roasting marshmallows, the Delawana has it all.
The Miss Midland, one of the largest tour boats operating in the Georgian Bay area, offers exclusive free trips twice a week to Delawana guests. It’s a fun-filled and informative 90-minute adventure into Georgian Bay’s waterways and its history.
Don’t miss the Honey Harbour Jazz Festival, slated for August 14. Enjoy the afternoon listening to live jazz in Honey Harbour and then head over to the Delawana Marine Deck for more music into the evening.
You may have missed being the first to take a dip in the bay during the May 24 long weekend and you might have forgotten to wish Samuel de Champlain a happy birthday in June. Maybe you were busy during Canada Day. Make this a summer you won’t soon forget by taking a trip to the Delawana and experience a genuine Muskoka holiday in the sun.

Wednesday, August 04, 2010 Delawana the foundation for family traditions
Honey Harbour, Ont., - Family traditions are meaningful celebrations of special occasions that have been passed down, often for generations. There’s nothing more traditional than the anticipated annual family summer vacation.
Canadian summers can be unpredictable, so it’s vitally important to maintain these rituals each year, making the most of the pleasant weather.
These traditions can be as simple as weekend treks to Muskoka or building sandcastles on that special beach. In Honey Harbour, many families return each year to a place that has stood the test of time and has become the very foundation for countless traditions over the past century.
It’s also the perfect place to begin a new family tradition.
At the Delawana Inn Spa and Conference Resort, it’s all about families and stretching memories into never-ending traditions. From pool parties and fishing off the dock to family tie-dye and craft sessions, the stage is set for creating life’s simple pleasures, captured in special moments. It’s a mosaic, a human puzzle that is nevery fully completed.
“At the Delawana, we’ve had more than 100 years of helping families make memories,” said Gary Don, Delawana social director. “We foster family traditions and we’re very proud of that.”
Many of today’s adult visitors to the Delawana first visited the resort as children, and now bring their own families to relive the experience.
“I have seen kids grow up, from year to year, right before my eyes,” Don said. “These family traditions will live long in the hearts and minds of these youngsters and hopefully they will tell Del tales to their children one day.”
The best accolades come from the families themselves, who have made The Del their traditional vacation destination.
“When people ask us about our summer, the Delawana Inn is always heralded as our Georgian Bay get-away.”
“Thank you a million times over. We have fallen in love with Georgian Bay and the Delawana Inn.”
“The experience, or reunion beckons. Take advantage of it!”
“Our family has made the Del its annual vacation destination for four years now and like the enthusiasm that abounds there, it never gets old. The Del is starting to fit like a favourite t-shirt, a veritable second skin.”
The Delawana strives to create unique lifetime memories through dedication to its natural surroundings and environment. They’re committed to customer service. The Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort is a 25-acre full service facility complete with a health spa, sports facilities, golf, children’s program, restaurants and much more.
This summer, The Delawana is offering free children bonus weeks, running to August 29. These packages, that apply to children under 17 and children under 15, including two meals per person per day; a full social itinerary; boat cruises, evening entertainment and more. The Delawana is also presenting four-day weekends specials, Thursday through Sundays, until September 5.
