Delawana Inn Resort Supports Canada’s Deployed Military with “Courtesy Complimentary” Family Weekends Honey Harbour, Ontario…………August 2007. For the second year Muskoka’s Delawana Inn Resort has participated with Base Borden Military and the Borden Family Resource Centre Family Separation and Reunion Service in a unique program for military personnel who recently served in foreign destinations, including Afghanistan. Delawana provides a complimentary weekend of accommodation for ten military families. The Base Borden project is designed to provide a transition time and a chance for families to reunite after a separation period. Families are selected based on criteria set up by Canadian Forces Base Borden. Gary Don, spokesperson for the Delawana Inn said, “This is our way of supporting military families who may have been separated for a number of months. It is important that families get back together in a stress free and fun environment.” Don adds, “Most military families tend to do things together such as our daily cruises around the 30,000 Islands, or a picnic at Beausoleil Island which is part of Georgian Bay Islands National Park.” Delawana has been creating family memories for over 109 years, and has received The Best Family Resort in Canada Award provided by City Parent Magazine. The Resort specializes in Family Reunions and has developed a reputation for providing excellent children’s programs. Parents have the option of spending time with their children, or placing them in day or half-day Kids’ camps. Parents then have an opportunity to spend time on their favourite recreation activities available at the “Del”. Delawana Inn is located on the southeast shore of Georgian Bay in the 30,000 Islands Biosphere Reserve. Driving from Toronto is approximately 90 minutes via Highway 400 to Muskoka Road 5.
