For Immediate Release Celebrating 50 years of Travel News from the Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort in Honey Harbour. Honey Harbour, Georgian Bay, Ontario... January 21, 2003. Much has changed according to the 1953 edition of the Honey Harbour Holidayer. The U.S currency was nearly at par compared to the Canadian dollar. The Buffalo TV station had just increased power, so the "televiewers" reception would improve. The Johnson's Wax Company reserved accommodation for their annual fishing trip and the anglers club formed by the Anchor Cap and Closure Company of Toronto had experienced exceptional Pickerel catches the previous year. Sometimes, things never change, as one headline "Snow-Sled Hits Buoy Marker" created a news opportunity before the snowmobile was invented. Didas Grise, the former owner of the Delawana Inn in l953, was in many ways way ahead of his time with its chatty and informative "Honey Harbour Holidayer" newspaper. Quick communications were sent by telegram, to advise of fishing for the Spring Pickerel run. Timing was everything. "We are not going to send out these wires until we can see the whites of their eyes", stated Grise. He believed fishing was a science! The entire newsletter can be viewed by going to the news section at www.delawana.com. To celebrate 50 years of travel News, the Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort would like to encourage former guests, children or grand children of former guests who stayed in 1952 or 1953 to provide us with memories and experiences, either through photos, or in a written format.
