Honey Harbour, Georgian
Bay, Ontario – April 2005 – Many of the
guests at the Delawana are
repeating their visits in 2005 for the 4th and 5th time in as many
years. It is no wonder that Delawana keeps coming up in the top
5 family summer resorts
in Canada. According to Jeff Cowan, Operations Manger at the resort,
“There are three important factors that our guests respond
to in our surveys – the extensive
children’s programs where the kids are kept busy from
morning to night. Parents get to relax when the kids are in the
supervised programs.”
Recreation Amenities for the Parents—Casual
Dining
“The second item involves our recreation amenities—mom
can go to the Wanakita Wellness Spa, or take time to read a book.
Dad can go fishing, golfing
or just relax at his own pace.” Cowan adds “Thirdly
our Chef’s meals are outstanding, and the family
dining experience is friendly, where ‘kids can be kids’
in a casual dining environment.”
Extensive Supervised Children’s Programs
Not only do the guests keep returning to the Delawana, the key management
team return year after year, a rarity in the hospitality business.
Gary Don, the popular Recreation and social program director, is
a kid’s favourite, especially at the pool
party fun during the summer weeks. Gary has a high level of
energy that draws kids, and comforts parents knowing that there
is also a level of concern and safety for their children.
Two Children Always Stay and Eat Free
The 2005 summer season kicks off on the
Victoria Day Long Weekend with a special “Open the Shutters
Package” where guests receive 3 nights for the price 2 nights
and 2 children 12 and under stay free. The weekend has an extensive
itinerary with evening entertainment. Three meals each day are included.
During the summer months the 5,
7, and 9 night vacation packages offer the best value where
the children participate in the weeklong children’s
programs. Family evening
entertainment is 7 days a week and Friday nights include a special
Miss Midland
Cruise around the Islands in the Georgian
Bay area.
The array of on-site amenities for the children is
beyond the scope of this article. The web site, provides information
on the beaches,
water sports
equipment, fishing
information as well as sample itineraries and information on
childcare.

Read what the Globe & Mail writes about the Del:
"Resorts help guests grow (naturally)...
The award-winning Delawana Inn in Muskoka is a family favourite
that offers special themed weekends and deals for family reunions.
Throw in the devotion to giving kids and their parents an outstanding
experience and it's clear why City Parent magazine and Hotel Fun
4 Kids recognized The Del as the best family resort.
Among the features is a program that allows junior naturalists to
work toward a Delawana Nature Certificate. From bird watching, hiking
and even an interactive reptile zoo, youngsters simply have to complete
three nature adventures during their stay."
